A student-led conference connecting PhD students in behavioral and experimental economics across California.
The Behavioral and Experimental Economics Stanford-Caltech-UC Student Conference (BEESCUitS) brings together PhD students working in behavioral and experimental economics at institutions across California. BEESCUitS is designed to help students get to know one another, build a local peer network, learn about ongoing research across institutions, meet potential collaborators and co-authors, and receive feedback on their work.
At its core, BEESCUitS is a student-focused conference. Presentations and discussions are currently attended only by graduate students, creating a low-stakes environment in which participants can present work in progress, exchange ideas openly, and get useful feedback from peers at similar stages of their careers.
By bringing students from nearby institutions together, we hope to make it easier to stay connected, attend one another’s events, share research ideas, and develop collaborations that extend beyond the conference itself.
The inaugural BEESCUitS was held in 2022, bringing together students from Caltech, Stanford University, and UC Berkeley. Since then, the conference has steadily expanded; by 2025, presenters represented eight universities across California. The 2026 meeting marks the fifth iteration of BEESCUitS, and we hope it will continue to grow as a lasting community for behavioral and experimental economics PhD students in California.
The 2026 conference will bring together graduate students from across California for two days of student research, discussion, and fun!
